Latest News: New Warden needed for Bishop’s House!

We have a very exciting opportunity for a new Warden at Bishop’s House to continue the good work of previous wardens and carry forward the ministry of this vital place which so many visitors to Iona now call their ‘second home’.

We have four vacancies coming up for the 2018 season:

If you are interested in the experience of a lifetime – housekeeping and/or cooking and living on a beautiful, peaceful and legendary Scottish island – then do get in touch. Application is by CV with a covering letter. We anticipate holding interviews in December/early January. Job descriptions are available below:

Rates of pay are £9.75/hr for the chef and hospitality supervisor (39 hrs per week), and £8.75 for the general assistant posts (30 hrs per week).

Bishop's House Staff Information Pack

The season generally runs from late February to early November but we are hoping to put a toe into the water to develop a winter season, too…! All posts are live-in, ideally, with the team accommodated in single rooms within Bishop’s House. Applicants need to be passionate and professional about delivering high-quality hospitality in the setting of a small and friendly retreat house.

Volunteer opportunities in 2018

We are also offer a volunteer placement on Iona throughout our open season. We are now full for the 2017 season, but do get in touch and apply if you are thinking about volunteering in 2018 (March – October). Thank you!

We encourage volunteers to join us for a period of two to three months, as we feel this will help you get the most out of the experience. Full board and lodging are provided free of charge, and reasonable expenses can be reimbursed. We can accommodate either a single volunteer or potentially a volunteer couple. A description of the volunteer role and an expression of interest form are given below.
