The College is a combination of a Visit Scotland 3 Star Guest House and a Christian Retreat House. It is located next to Britain's smallest cathedral, The Cathedral of The Isles. Both were built at the same time in 1851 by the architect William Butterfield. The College was originally built for students of theology in the Scottish Episcopal Church.
The aim of The College of The Holy Spirit (with the Cathedral) is to create a centre for spiritual development and artistic expression for individuals and groups, and hospitality for guests and for the local community on Cumbrae.
The guest house allows visitors to enjoy a unique combination of modern luxury and homemade meals in a building full of history and character.
It offers a selection of 16 bedrooms. These include single, twin or double rooms and two family rooms. Five of the bedrooms are ensuite and there is also a ground floor bedroom and bathroom which is specifically set up for those who are physically less able.
Guests have the use of our library and two common rooms. The Cathedral is open every day for services or simply quiet times and reflection.
The College has links with all the local churches and other denominations in the United Kingdom.
