The College of The Holy Spirit on Cumbrae is available for group bookings and also runs its own retreat programme for individuals. The beauty and tranquillity of the island and Cathedral grounds gives our guests the opportunity to relax throughout the day and offers an added dimension to your retreat or holiday experience.
At the Cathedral of The Isles and College of the Holy Spirit, Cumbrae
Jesus himself took time out to pray which, in his context, was often up a mountain. Here are a number of opportunities for you to do the same, but in our context to do so on the Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland’s most accessible island. There is something quite magical about making the journey across the water from the Scottish mainland onto an island – we invite you to come and experience it for yourself.
GROUP BOOKINGS
Whether you’re looking for somewhere to have a family gathering, conference, parish/group holiday, school/youth group residential or a silent retreat The College of The Holy Spirit is the ideal venue. The College has two main buildings as well as the Cathedral and is set in eight acres of grounds including lawns and woodland. It has sixteen bedrooms, a mixture of single, double and twin.
INDIVIDUAL BOOKINGS
When we do not have a group in residence we are delighted to be able to offer Bed & Breakfast to those who wish the unique experience of staying at Britain’s smallest cathedral. There are two main buildings as well as the Cathedral set in eight acres of grounds including lawns and woodland. We have sixteen bedrooms, a mixture of single, double and twin; some of which are en-suite.
We are classified by Visit Scotland as a 3-star Guest House and were awarded 9/10 by visitors who booked through booking.com last year. We are part of the Green Tourism scheme, having been granted a Silver award, and use Fair Trade and Scottish products where we can.
Friends’ Bursary Scheme
We do not want cost to prevent anyone from attending an event at The College of The Holy Spirit. Please see here for details of a bursary scheme run by the Friends of the Cathedral of The Isles.
